Report from our correspondent (Zhang Yifeng reporter Dong Mei) on May 29, Jinzhou Petrochemical Company MTBE(methyl tert-butyl ether) double-tower distillation desulfurization technology through the scientific and technological evaluation center of China National Petroleum Corporation achievement appraisal. The operation of 10,000-ton industrial plant shows that the sulfur content of MTBE is reduced from 100-1000ppm to less than 3ppm, MTBE yield is 99.5%, desulfurization energy consumption is 17.0-17.7kg standard oil/ton MTBE.
As a gasoline additive, it is mainly used to adjust the oxygen content and octane number of gasoline. The sulfur content of MTBE will affect the upgrading of gasoline quality, so it is necessary to desulfurize MTBE products to meet the market demand. To improve the atmospheric environment of Beijing and reduce the emission of PM2.5 particles inhaled from automobile exhaust, Jinzhou Petrochemical undertook the task of Beijing V gasoline production and maintenance. The control of MTBE sulfur content has become the bottleneck of Beijing V gasoline production. In 2011, Jinzhou Petrochemical Research Institute undertook the project of "Technology Development for Reducing the Sulfur Content of MTBE" of PetroChina Refining and Chemical Company. In that year, the structure analysis and thermal decomposition stability experiment of sulfur compounds were completed, and the desulfurization process model was established. The desulfurization model was verified in the laboratory, and the results showed that the sulfur content of MTBE was less than 2ppm after desulfurization.
In March 2012, Jinzhou Petrochemical carried out MTBE desulfurization technology transformation for the first time on the idle unit, and successfully carried out 10,000-ton industrial experiment. The sulfur content of industrial products was less than 2ppm, and the yield reached more than 99.5%. In September of the same year, another set of desulfurization technology transformation was completed and qualified products were produced. After 26 months of operation, the sulfur content of MTBE produced and purchased by Jinzhou Petrochemical Company was reduced to less than 2ppm. As an innovative technology independently developed, the result has been applied for 2 patents, among which the utility model patent has been authorized.
On the basis of MTBE desulfurization technology, Jinzhou Petrochemical Research Institute researchers on MTBE production process research, successful desulfurization technology and production technology together, further reduce the desulfurization cost, so that refining type MTBE to achieve low vulcanization, to meet the requirements of clean fuel production.
